Fuck You, Rand Paul

Given this shallow, pathetic asshole’s behavior during his senatorial campaign, we should have seen this coming. For those who have been lost in the woods all week, Rand Paul has stabbed his father in the back and endorsed another pathetic asshole, Mitt Romney, for the Republican presidential nomination. None of us have any way of knowing how Ron Paul feels right now, but I can say with certainty that if my son betrayed not only me, but worse, every principle I stood for, principles that I surely had tried to inculcate into him since his boyhood, I would, to put it charitably, be very disappointed.

But fear not, for Little Boy Paul is going to get his political comeuppance, and quickly. When that pathetic weasel Romney gets his political ass handed to him on the first Tuesday in November, a certain junior senator from Kentucky is going to come out of the ordeal looking very, very foolish in a lot of people’s eyes. Furthermore, if he is stupid enough to think for even a microsecond that anyone is going to look to him to fill his father’s shoes, then he is simply delusional. Let us hope and pray that even the denizens of a place like Kentucky are smart enough to show him the door in five years and give his seat to someone who doesn’t even pretend to have any principles.

To Rand’s father, I can honestly say that I feel your pain. I know what it is like to have your offspring stab you in the back. You never get over the pain of betrayal, but you do take satisfaction, for their own sake, at seeing them learn from their foolish mistakes. I certain hope Rand does.

Meanwhile, until he mends his ways, I feel nothing but contempt for the man and his political machinations. If the reactions across the libertarian blogosphere are any indication, most other libertarians apparently feel the same way. Not that many of us serious libertarians ever believed otherwise, but it’s now obvious that a chip off the old political block Rand ain’t. It’s just a good thing that it has been made unmistakably clear now, before too many people have been hoodwinked.

Yep, what a shock. Even it Rand did it for political reason it is a mistake. Most of us who want liberty are more honest and smart and we would not stoop to their lying ways. You don't become them to beat them because you lost the minute you became them.

BTW, find another spam thing other the Capture, it usually takes me several tries and I often give up. 50% of the time I can't read it and I'm not a computer.

I try not to post anything with a title as intemperate and visceral as the one I assigned to this one, but I really, truly couldn't think of anything more appropriate. It would be one thing if Baby Paul were the polar political opposite of his daddy in all things, if he had a history of being openly antagonistic to liberty and genuinely limited government and was a dyed-in-the-wool neocon like the rest of the GOP mainstream, but that's not the case.

I would actually have preferred a Rand Paul who was visibly, obviously, and unashamedly his dad's opposite. Unfortunately, Rand comes off as the typical career politician, a fence straddler without any real principles who steals just enough of his daddy's libertarian rhetoric to pander to the libertarian base, but who clearly craves the power that the Establishment offers those who toe the party line.

We already have more than enough of such types infesting public office, creatures with even less scruples than Rand Paul. Why do we need any more? That he thinks he can hoodwink his father's followers while publicly kneeling before the GOP power brokers speaks volumes about what he thinks of liberty and those who would see it spread far and wide. Now that we've seen the REAL Rand Paul, I don't think we need to see any more of him.

Sorry about the Capture snafu. Yeah, it is a PITA, from both sides of the keyboard. I'll see if I can find something a bit more user-friendly to plug in.
