Welcome to Liberrants, a blog dedicated to editorials, discussions, and studies of all things libertarian. Don't let the title mislead you; it's merely my attempt to be creative in describing myself as a "hopeful curmudgeon" who embraces the goal of the free, peaceful, economically vibrant society envisioned by America's founding fathers. A critically thinking curmudgeon whose goal, in addition to creatively venting about the imperfect world in which we live, is to induce critical thinking in others. The ultimate goal is to help bring about a peaceful world in which we can all live in freedom.

Joe Sobran on Internetiquette

The ostensible theme of this editorial is the reaction of certain Darwinists to Joe's supportive commentary on Tom Bethell's skewering of Darwinian theory in his new book The Politically Incorrect Guide to Science. However, the real message focuses on the crass and surly responses, consisting mainly of ad hominem invective and obscenities, of large numbers of those who disagree with Joe and Tom. I'll let you read the article for yourselves, but suffice it to say that Joe sums it up perfectly when he points out that those who resort to such crass schoolyard behavior do nothing to prove the value of their counterarguments nor do they exhibit erudition or intelligence. A most timely message for the blog world, one that cannot be overstated.
